26/27 Select Head Coach

Apex Volleyball is one of the fastest growing volleyball clubs in the nation and the premier choice for athletes ages five and older in the Lowcountry. Our Select (National) coaches are fundamental in creating a competitive, energetic, and growth-focused environment for athletes to develop both on and off the court.

Position Overview

Our Select coaches are held to the highest standard of passion, knowledge and commitment. They understand the technical, tactical, and physical aspects of volleyball, and have the ability to lead a group of highly competitive athletes through teaching strong fundamentals, maintaining consistent and positive communication, and nurturing meaningful relationships with athletes and parents. Select coaches are competitive and demanding in nature but considerate of young athletes’ minds and needs. They must be open to working under involved leadership, receive honest but constructive feedback, and seek continued learning opportunities within the coaching profession.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and lead three practices a week, travel to 8–10 tournaments (within driving or flying distance) during the season, and manage all necessary administrative duties associated with head coaching a Select team.

• Teach and reinforce core technical fundamentals and advanced volleyball concepts through the dissemination of detailed, constructive feedback.

• Develop genuine relationships with athletes and parents off the court and invest time to create a positive and competitive team culture.

• Uphold Apex standards, values and culture and act as a role model on and off the court.

• Continue pursuing coaching education and professional development opportunities.

Qualifications

• Relevant coaching and/or playing experience required (collegiate experience preferred).

• Strong knowledge of volleyball fundamentals and systems with the ability to teach every skill to every position.

• Alignment with the Apex values of respect, integrity, transparency, and accountability.

• Ability to pass all background checks and obtain all necessary certifications.

• Experience with navigating difficult conversations with professionalism and discretion.

• High-energy, engaged on-court presence and leadership skills.
