At Apex, we believe every athlete’s journey starts with a strong foundation. Our Developmental Coaches play a key role in introducing young athletes to the game of volleyball by creating a fun, encouraging, and fundamentals-focused environment where players can learn, grow, and build confidence.
Position Overview
Apex is seeking positive, energetic, and patient coaches to work with athletes who are new to the sport of volleyball. Developmental Coaches are responsible for teaching basic mechanics, introducing foundational volleyball concepts, and helping athletes develop confidence both on and off the court.
We are looking for coaches who enjoy teaching, connecting with younger athletes, and creating an environment where players feel supported, encouraged, and excited to learn.
Key Responsibilities
Teach and reinforce basic volleyball fundamentals and movement mechanics
Break down skills in a clear, age-appropriate, and encouraging way
Create a positive, engaging, and structured learning environment
Help athletes build confidence, teamwork, and communication skills
Provide consistent encouragement and constructive feedback
Foster a fun and welcoming introduction to competitive volleyball
Communicate professionally with athletes, families, directors, and staff
Collaborate with other coaches and leadership to support athlete development across the program
Continue learning and growing through coaching education opportunities
Represent Apex culture and values at all practices and events
Qualifications
Volleyball playing and/or coaching experience preferred
Passion for working with younger athletes and beginner players
Strong communication and teaching skills
Positive, patient, and encouraging coaching style
Ability to break down technical skills into simple, teachable progressions
Dependable, energetic, and team-oriented
Growth mindset and willingness to continue developing as a coach
