At Apex, private training is built around intentional athlete development, individualized instruction, and creating meaningful progress through detailed coaching. Our Private Lesson Coaches play an important role in helping athletes of all levels improve their technical skills, confidence, and understanding of the game through personalized training sessions.
Position Overview
Apex is seeking highly engaged, knowledgeable, and adaptable coaches to lead private training sessions for athletes ranging from developmental to advanced levels. Coaches will work with athletes in 1-on-1, 2-on-1, and small group settings, creating individualized lesson plans that support both immediate improvement and long-term development.
This role requires strong teaching ability, technical knowledge, and the flexibility to adjust training in real time based on athlete progress, learning style, and performance.
Apex provides court assignments, equipment, and shared calendar management. Coaches are responsible for maintaining their weekly availability and communicating professionally with clients regarding scheduling or conflicts when necessary.
Key Responsibilities
Lead individualized and small group private training sessions
Develop short-term and long-term lesson plans based on athlete goals and skill level
Adjust training sessions dynamically based on athlete capability, progress, and feedback
Teach and break down technical skills and mechanics in a clear, effective way
Provide detailed, constructive feedback that supports athlete confidence and growth
Create engaging, high-energy training environments that maximize athlete development
Work with athletes ranging from beginner to advanced levels
Maintain and communicate weekly scheduling availability
Communicate professionally and promptly with clients regarding scheduling conflicts or changes
Represent Apex culture and values during all lessons and interactions
Qualifications
Volleyball coaching and/or playing experience required
Strong understanding of volleyball mechanics, fundamentals, and skill progression
Excellent teaching and communication skills
Ability to adapt instruction to different ages, skill levels, and learning styles
Highly engaged, energetic, and athlete-focused coaching style
Strong organizational skills and professionalism
Dependable, flexible, and team-oriented
