1. League Philosophy

The Apex Coed League (Power and Rally divisions) is dedicated to providing a fun, competitive, and safe environment for adult players of all skill levels. Our primary focus is on sportsmanship, community, and the enjoyment of the game. All players are expected to respect their teammates, opponents, and the spirit of fair play.

  • Prizes: League champions of both divisions will receive a team trophy or medals, club gear, and complimentary registration for the next season.

2. League Divisions

The league will be divided into two divisions to ensure fair and competitive play:

  • Power Division (Competitive): This division is for teams with a higher skill level, who have more experience and play competitively.

  • Rally Division (Recreational): This division is for teams who are new to the sport, are playing for fun, and want a less competitive environment.

Teams will be placed into a division based on their own assessment and a review by the League Commissioner.

3. General Rules

All games will be played according to standard USAV rules, with the following modifications and clarifications specific to our co-ed league.

  • Co-ed Requirements: A minimum of two (2) female players must be on the court at all times. A maximum of four (4) male players is allowed on the court at a time.

  • Substitutions: Substitutions are unlimited. A player can be subbed in and out of the game as needed, as long as the co-ed ratio on the court is maintained.

  • Warm-Ups: Teams share an allotted a five-minute warm-up period before each match begins.

4. Match Format and Scoring
  • Match Length: Matches will consist of three (3) sets.

  • Sets 1 & 2: There is a point cap of 27; if the score reaches 26-26, the next point wins the set.

  • Set 3 (Tiebreaker): Played to 15, with a point cap of 17.

5. Sportsmanship and Conduct
  • Respect: Treat all players, teammates, and opponents with respect. The league has a zero-tolerance policy for verbal abuse, taunting, or any form of harassment.

  • Refereeing: This is a self-officiated league. Teams are expected to make calls honestly and respectfully. Disputes should be handled calmly and fairly by all players involved. If a dispute cannot be resolved, the point will be replayed. Repeated disputes may be brought to the League Commissioner.

6. Officiating

All matches are self-officiated. Teams are responsible for calling their own violations (e.g., net violations, centerline faults, carries).

7. Forfeits
  • Grace Period: A team has a 10-minute grace period from the scheduled match time to have at least six (6) players ready to play, including at least two (2) females.

  • Forfeit: If a team does not meet the minimum requirements after the grace period, they will forfeit the match.

  • Penalty: A team that forfeits more than twice in one season may be removed from the league without a refund.
